While parrying and blocking can be a good way to avoid taking heavy damage, sometimes it’s best to just get out of the way and dodge the oncoming attack. To do this, you have to learn how to manage the rolling technique.
If you still can’t accurately calculate the timing for the parry or if you don’t have a good enough shield to block, then you could try dodge. However, this move could put you in an even worse situation, so you need to be careful and understand when to use it.
When you want to dodge, simply hold the left stick in the direction you want to go and press Circle. Do not hold the button or you will start running instead of rolling.
Sprinting might work for dodging enemy attacks, but it’s not very safe as the sprint animation takes longer to start than just rolling dodge.
Also remember to do not “spam” the Circle key, that is, do not press it repeatedly: by doing so, you will dodge twice in a row and you could end up in a point where you absolutely did not intend to go. Double dodging is fine but only if that was what you really planned to do to get further away!
If dodging is not enough to escape an enemy attack, then you could find yourself in trouble and lose a lot of health: try to regain health as quickly as possible to avoid an unpleasant game over!
