The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti as the new entry into the new GPU generation from Nvidia is no longer a secret. After various partner designs could already be seen, VideoCardz is showing pictures of the RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition.
Same cooler as the RTX 3070 FE
Even at first glance, the cooler looks familiar, because apparently the same design as the RTX 3070 Founders Edition (test) is used. On the RTX 3070 FE, the cooler measures 24.5 cm in length and 11 cm in width. The graphics card occupies two slots and is cooled by two 85 mm fans and a radiator with an aluminum core. The fan on the left blows the cool air against the PCB and tries to get it out of the housing as well as possible through the slot cover. The right one uses the PCB, which is shorter than the cooler, and blows air through the cooling fins once – the backplate therefore has a recess at the rear of the card.
An unusually large amount of information has leaked about the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, which has even been advertised at foreign dealers. The specifications are considered secure: With the GA104-200, a smaller variant of the GPU of the RTX 3070 is used, which only has 4,864 active shader units, and the clock rates should be slightly lower. With 8 GB GDDR6 (14 Gbps) on the 256-bit interface, there is again a tie with the next faster model in the Ampere family. The TDP is expected to be in the 180 to 200 watt range and the price is expected to be just under $ 400. The date for the introduction also seems almost certain: Various sources mentioned the beginning of December several times, VideoCardz continues to assume December 2, 2020.
Some partner cards can already be seen
In addition to the Founders Edition from Nvidia shown above, numerous custom designs from the board partners can be expected. GeForce RTX 3060 Ti from Gigabyte and Inno 3D (pictures below) were already on view.
Alleged benchmarks from Nvidia
The first indications of the performance level from the (unconfirmed) manufacturer’s point of view have already been made: In selected benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is said to beat a GeForce RTX 2080 Super from the previous Turing generation. The as yet unconfirmed AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is traded as a potential antagonist, about which new indications only emerged today. GeForce RTX 3060 and Radeon RX 6700 are used one floor below.
