Renewable energy and solar power plants in particular are an excellent field for setting records (read – advertising). A fashionable theme combined with something “very best” attracts investors and allows you to move forward. About such a project the other day was announced in the USA. The state of Texas has begun construction of the largest solar power plant in the country, which will supply electricity to a third of a million homes and five large companies.
The Samson Solar Energy Center project was started by Invenergy, one of the largest grid and generating plant operators in the United States and the world. The construction will take place in three stages and will take three years. Upon completion of work in 2023, the solar capacity of the Samson energy center promises to be the largest in this country – 1.31 GW.
The project cost is $ 1.6 billion. The project will provide 600 jobs for construction workers over three years. Local landowners will receive $ 250 million in compensation, and rentals will bring local communities another $ 200 million.
The capacities of the solar power plant will also be commissioned in stages in three stages. In addition to supplying electricity to three municipalities (Brian: 150 MW, Denton: 75 MW and Garland: 25 MW), Samson Solar, located in Lamar, Red River and Franklin counties, will supply electricity to AT&T (500 MW), Honda (200 MW), McDonald’s (160 MW), Google (100 MW) and The Home Depot (50 MW).
Analysts and experts expect solar to be the fastest growing electricity supplier to the Texas power grid in the next three years. It is planned that only due to the deployment of new solar capacities, 3.5 GW of capacity will be added this year and 5.5 GW in 2021.
