Now that it is on the market, the iPhone 12 Pro has been under evaluation by some entities with signed credits. One of them is DxOMark, which uniquely evaluates the field of photography on smartphones.
The first results were not very positive for the new smartphone from Apple, but a new evaluation was expected. This focuses on the front camera and, once again, was not positive for the iPhone 12 Pro. The results put it back below the competition.
New DxOMark tests on the iPhone 12 Pro
After the evaluation presented a few days ago, focused on the capabilities of the iPhone 12 Pro cameras, news was expected. The next step would be to assess the photographic capability of the front camera and what it is capable of offering.
DxOMark's first response was not positive, placing the iPhone 12 Pro below the competition, and this was no different. Once again the capabilities of this Apple smartphone were below what other smartphones are capable of offering to users.
Front camera falls below the competition
With 98 points, 101 for photography and 93 for video, he ended up stay in seventh position in the DxOMark table. This puts it below the Huawei Mate 40 Pro and P4 Pro, and others, having improved, however, compared to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which had 92 points.
DxOMark reveals that the images are of high quality, but they are not one of the best in this segment. They are good for basic tasks of capturing photos and videos, just as in Portrait Mode with effects they work at depth of field. Videos with Dolby HDR technology are presented as impressive in color, exposure and dynamic focus.
Again the Apple smartphone is far from expected
However, a lot of noise was detected in the photos under certain conditions, be it in the background, or in videos recorded in low light environments. The exposure with the flash on and with movement in the video were also criticized. They do not compromise the final quality, but they score points in the final evaluation.
The assessments made to Apple's iPhone 12 have been contradictory. After a low score to reach the top of DxOMark, he achieved an excellent result in the evaluation of the screen, in the Pro Max. Now, in the field of frontal photography, it is again below the expected.
