On November 19, AMD plans to publish the Hangar 21 technology demo with DirectX Raytracing (DXR) and thus demonstrate the feature set of the new Radeon RX 6800, 6800 XT and 6900 XT graphics cards based on the Navi-21 GPU. The Radeon RX 6000 series will be launched on November 18 and December 8, respectively.
Tech demo appears one day after the graphics cards
It is not yet known why the tech demo will only appear one day after the official sales start of the new Radeon RX 6800 and 6800 XT graphics cards (unboxing).
What is certain, however, is that Hangar 21 will concentrate on the ray tracing of light, shadow and reflections calculated using DirectX 12 Ultimate and AMD FidelityFX. In addition, the new demo should show the performance of the three GPUs.
In the future, AMD FidelityFX will be used in the games Far Cry 6, Godfall and Dirt 5 (test) as well as in Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Shadowlands and offers Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, Ambient Occlusion, Variable Shading, Screen Space Reflections, Denoiser, HDR- Mapper and downsampler.

At the end of the test embargo, ComputerBase will investigate how well the new AMD graphics cards perform. That will probably be November 18th for the reference design of the Radeon RX 6800 and Radeon RX 6800 XT, which, according to recent rumors, are extremely tactful. The Radeon RX 6900 XT will follow on December 8th.
Update 11/19/2020 8:40 p.m.
AMD’s Tech Demo is a tech demo video (only)
The tech demo announced by AMD for today is initially at least a tech demo video of around 3:30 minutes in FHD resolution (1080p), which features the Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 (test) as well as the Radeon RX 6900 XT, which will appear on December 8th, will be shown in action for the first time.
The RDNA 2 Technology Demo “Hangar 21” focuses primarily on hardware-accelerated ray tracing via DirectX 12 Ultimate (DXR) as well as soft shadows and reflections.
It is not yet known why AMD “only” published a video of the tech demo and not the tech demo itself. Whether and when the tech demo “Hangar 21” will be available to everyone has also not yet been answered.
The tech demo in the YouTube video ran on a Radeon RX 6900 XT and an AMD Ryzen 9 3900 with 3.8 GHz and 2 × 16 GB DDR4 memory. An ASRock X570 Taichi was also used as the mainboard.
