In the weekly section App Missed you can read which apps from the past week are worthwhile. We always discuss about five apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac. These could be apps you might not have known about or that are useful or just funny to try. And that can also be veterans who have received a major update and therefore receive some extra attention.
Discussed earlier this week on iCulture:
iCulture App of the Week: Carbo
With Carbo for iPhone, iPad and Mac you have a notebook at hand on all your Apple devices. The app has many options for drawing, writing or annotating. Different themes are available for all kinds of drawings. There is a blueprint theme, but also a pixel theme for digital art. Because you can also choose a transparent theme, Carbo is also suitable for drawing images for websites, for example.
Carbo is fully optimized for macOS Big Sur and is a universal app. This means that with one purchase you can provide all your devices with the same app. A paid extension is possible, but you can also work fine with the free version of Carbo. The Dutch translation leaves something to be desired, but that is not such an issue for us.
Do you like old Polaroids, but also easy photography with your iPhone? Then RTRO is something for you. This week, a new update app from the makers of Moment has been released that allows you to shoot polaroids even better with your iPhone. There are already apps that do this, but RTRO is now taking it a step further. You can already see what the Polaroid effect will look like while photographing. Many other apps only do this afterwards. You can also adjust the intensity of the effect while shooting.
RTRO was already available, but with this update RTRO + subscribers can use the so-called Instant Film function. The app also includes all kinds of other vintage features and is definitely worth a try.
Clicker for YouTube
We already know a lot of ‘Clicker’ apps, but now there is also one for YouTube. This allows you to watch videos from the menu bar or dock of your Mac. When you watch a movie, you can use picture-in-picture on your Mac so you can continue with other tasks while the video is playing in the corner. Clicker for YouTube is designed for Mac and also carries the Mac corporate identity. The app also has a built-in ad blocker.
You can Try or buy Clicker for YouTube for free for about € 7.
Sports Speedometer is an app for your Apple Watch to measure fast sports. Do you play golf, tennis, baseball, cricket, hockey or any other sport where you have to hit a ball? Then the app measures the speed of the ball by looking at your stroke. You see how many meters the ball travels per second and what your personal record is. In the accompanying app for your iPhone and iPad you can more easily see what your history is and whether you are making progress.
