The primary function of an ultraportable computer is to follow you everywhere and be operational for as long as possible. It must therefore be light, compact and above all, very durable. Enough to let you forget about the charger when leaving home without giving you a cold sweat.
Among all the ultraportables we’ve tested in recent months, there are some real long-distance runners. And some have even created a surprise. If endurance is the most important criterion for you, this ranking is there to help you choose a portable computer (13 to 14 inches) … which really is.
Be aware that if this is the case, the potency may sometimes take a bit of a back seat. But, rest assured, the 5 machines below are all capable of dealing with any office application, and allowing you to surf and watch movies. And this whether you are on the move or … comfortably seated on the sofa.
If you find it difficult to properly assess which type of laptop meets your needs and if you wish to have very specific advice as to which technical aspects to favor and which to avoid, we refer you to our guide to purchase. A video summary can be viewed at the top of this article.
5. Lenovo Yoga C940 (14IIL)
– Lenovo Yoga C940-14IIL
Previously on the third step of the podium, Lenovo’s Yoga is being pushed off the promontory by Apple Computers. The fact remains that the very latest 13.9-inch-screen hybrid from the world’s PC number 1 exceeds 10 hours of battery life in our two test scenarios. Enough to justify its price while compensating for the few technical criticisms that we addressed to it during our test to find below.

4. Apple MacBook Pro 13 2020 Core i5
– Apple MacBook Pro 13 2020 Core i5
Apple has returned to the podium with its latest 13-inch MacBook Pro … with an ARM chip. This 2020 version, released at the beginning of the year, incorporates all the good ingredients of the previous versions while changing the technical platform, now based on Intel Core components of the Ice Lake type. An evolution which is successful for it since its autonomy is spectacular.

3. Dell Inspiron 14 7000 Series (2019-20)
– Dell Inspiron 14
This Dell Inspiron 14 is very amazing. Despite its cutting-edge platform and its dedicated graphics card (a little anemic, admittedly), this 14-inch ultraportable still manages to hold out against many of its competitors. It’s the first classic ultraportable to surpass the class master, the XPS 13. Yes, even Dell’s flagship ultraportable 2020 vintage is beaten. Flagship whose 11th generation Intel Core version is currently being tested. And there is almost no doubt about his return to this ranking!

2. HP Elite Dragonfly
– HP Elite Dragonfly
The HP Elite Dragonfly is no longer the most enduring ultraportable (hybrid) at the moment. However, he remained in first place for several months and remains a safe bet in terms of endurance. Its platform is not of the latest generation and this ultraportable is intended more for professional customers than for the general public. However, as it is possible to buy it on the HP site like any other 13.3 inch (Specter and Envy), it would be wrong to do without. Especially since, as we explained in our first grip, this is the first time that HP has managed to surprise us with an ultraportable and, believe us, it is not easy.

1. Apple MacBook Pro 13 pouces (2020 M1 16 Go)
– Apple MacBook Pro 13 pouces 2020 M1
The new arrival of the MacBook Pro 13 range at the end of 2020 is also the first to embrace Apple Silicon’s M1 platform. Exit the Intel processors and welcome to the ARM chips specially designed by Apple for its own machines. By focusing only on the endurance part of this revolutionary little machine, it is clear that competing ultraportable PCs have found a new ideal to achieve … and a new competitor to destroy. The hunt is on !
