MediaMarkt and Saturn are now offering professional TV calibration directly in the store or at the buyer’s home afterwards. The service offered for 99 or 199 euros is also available for older televisions. For calibration, the companies rely on a professional colorimeter and software from Calman.
With the TV calibration, the MediaMarktSaturn Retail Group with its two large chains MediaMarkt and Saturn is expanding the service offering “Startklar”, as it is called at MediaMarkt, and “Ready2Go” at Saturn. The TV calibration is offered in all of the more than 400 branches nationwide as well as online as an additional bookable option and costs 99 euros in-store or 199 euros for on-site calibration.
The calibration of the television should be carried out on a professional level with a colorimeter and software from Calman. The parameters that can be influenced include color temperature, gamma gradient, image sharpness, image brightness and contrast. The TV sets should be set to the reference values that are also used in film production; HDR is also taken into account.
Calibration in the branch or at home
Customers have two options when choosing the service offer: The individual calibration can be carried out by a Calman-certified employee directly in the branch for 99 euros after purchase. The employees on site should explain to the customer which TV models are suitable for calibration. Once all values have been set, the customer can take the new television with him or have it delivered to his home. In addition, there will be a selection of pre-calibrated televisions to take away in the stores. The previous right of return for a newly purchased, calibrated television has not changed.
Alternatively, the calibration can be done afterwards at home for 199 euros. In this case, a technician from the service partner of Deutsche Technikberatung (DTB) is responsible for the calibration. With this type of calibration, the individual lighting conditions on site are also taken into account. This type of calibration is also offered for “somewhat older” televisions, but proof is required that clearly shows that the television was purchased from MediaMarkt or Saturn. At home, televisions purchased online can also be calibrated; with suitable devices, the new option is displayed directly in the online shop.
