Mercedes a few months ago brought its new flagship S-Class to its debut, which we have already had the opportunity to try. The German brand is now working to the AMG versions of this model that will debut later. A prototype of the high-performance variant of the S-Class equipped with a plug-in engine was recently intercepted on the road during winter tests in Sweden. Obviously, the car was heavily camouflaged but you can still see some elements like a more aggressive front bumper design with more pronounced air intakes.
To confirm that the car has a Plug-in engine, the presence of the charging socket door. It should be exactly the Mercedes-AMG Class S 63 e. Behind you can also see the new diffuser and the exhaust system with 4 tailpipes. Unfortunately there are no interior photos as this model was intercepted in motion. Being an AMG variant, it is reasonable to think that the interior has some specific details such as the AMG steering wheel and carbon fiber finishes.
There will obviously be the latest generation MBUX infotainment system already seen inside the new S-Class. And what about the engine? Since we are talking about an AMG branded car, it will certainly have an engine capable of offering excellent performance. There are currently no official confirmations but it seems that under the hood there may be a V8 twin-turbo with 4 liters of displacement combined with an electric unit.
The maximum overall power should arrive a i 515 kW (700 CV). The battery should have a capacity of 28 kWh and allow an autonomy in electric mode only up to about 100 Km. If confirmed, these would be very interesting numbers. Apparently, in addition to the Mercedes-AMG S-Class 63 e, there would also be an even more performing version, always Plug-in, with an engine capable of delivering 600 kW (816 hp). In this case, it would be of model S 73 e.
The debut of the Mercedes AMG S-Class 63 and should take place by the end of the year. At this point all that remains is to wait for further details of these Plug-in models of the German brand.
