HMD Global, a Finnish company operating under the brand Nokia, presented in these hours Nokia 1.4, an inexpensive smartphone with Android Go on board, the simplified operating system developed by Google for low-end smartphones, with particularly reduced technical characteristics. It appears that the company is also working on a remake of the old Nokia 3650 to propose a modernized variant on the market.
Nokia 1.4 on the market for 99 euros, HMD working on a modernized Nokia 3650
Equipped with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 215, 1/2/3 GB in RAM depending on the region, a display from 6.5 in with HD + resolution and notch display, a 4000mAh, 5MP front camera and 8MP for the rear one, in addition to 2MP for a macro module, the new Nokia 1.4 is now on the market globally at the price of 99 euros. Of course, high performance cannot be expected and compromises have to be made, such as for example give up the fast charge, in fact, the device only supports charging at 5W via microUSB, but the price makes it an attractive device especially for those who do not have high demands and use the smartphone for a few social and messaging apps. On board the phone we find Android Go, an operating system designed specifically for less performing devices, with a lighter graphical interface and software optimization that makes its use more fluid.
Unluckily, HMD only guarantees an update for its Nokia devices based on Android Go, so the phone that comes with Android Go based on Android 10, may never receive an update to version 12, now close to release. The security patch instead they are always guaranteed for 3 years, so you can sleep peacefully.
Another novelty at HMD is that the company is working on one new version of the Nokia 3650, phone marketed since 2003, based on Symbian and that the older ones will surely remember. Equipped with a physical keypad and a 176 × 220 pixel screen, the device will certainly be revisited and perhaps only a mere similarity from a purely aesthetic point of view will be maintained, a bit like what happened with the Nokia 3310 and other reinterpretations. of the old Nokia branded series.
We will keep you updated on the evolution of the project, stay connected to know all the news about it.
