Netflix e Riot Games announced today that the legendary blockbuster video game League of Legends will arrive very soon on the streaming platform, more precisely from next autumn of this year. Specifically, it will be an animated series set in the same scenarios as the video game and which will take the name of Arcane. The show had in any case been announced as early as 2019, to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the franchise. A little further down, you can view the short official teaser trailer of the series, lasting just 20 seconds.
Produced in collaboration with Fortiche Productions, the series will be set in the fictional region of Piltover, near the dark lands of Zaun. The main story should tell the origins of two champions well known to all players of League of Legends, that is We e Jinx, and a power that will put them to the test against enemies and adversities of all kinds.
Netflix Original Series Director Dominique Bazay was thrilled to be able to produce the first TV series focusing on the universe of LoL, so much so that according to him Arcane it will be an exciting and visually spectacular ride. Of the same opinion also Shauna Spenley, President of Global Entertainment of Riot Games, who defined Arcane a love letter for fans and players of the famous MOBA, as the show will dig deep into both the settings and the samples of League of Legends.
It cannot be ruled out that the success of Arcane also give way to a real shared universe in perfect style Marvel, since Riot seems to have for some time also set his eyes on the world of cinema and TV series, thus telling the stories of the various characters who populate Runeterra. It therefore remains only to see how and when future projects linked to the franchise LoL will see the light, many of which are almost certainly destined for the already rich Netflix streaming catalog.
