Discord is finally coming to PlayStation, it’s official! The confirmation comes from Jim Ryan, current president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment on the blog at www.sie.com. In the press release, it is in fact stated how Discord and PlayStation have entered into a partnership which will integrate the well-known communication service with the PlayStation world.
Only in recent weeks it was the competitor Microsoft who attempted a decent lunge, putting on the plate well 10 billion dollars. Monstrous figure that was rejected by the creators of the service!
“At PlayStation, we are constantly looking for new ways for players around the world to connect with each other, form new friendships and new communities, and share fun experiences and memories.“Said Jim Ryan. “It is in this spirit that we are excited to announce a new partnership with Discord, the player-populated communications service used by more than 140 million people worldwide.“.
Thus begins the statement by Jim Ryan, where Sony’s desire to improve its communication services is evident. This, to be fair, had already been seen with the PlayStation Party improvements, but the arrival of Discord will mark a real turning point for players.
With it, cross-play will be greatly facilitated, without necessarily having to rely on the often uncomfortable voice chats. In any case, Jim Ryan then continued the statement, stating: “Together, our teams are already working to connect Discord with your social media on PlayStation Network”.
“Our goal is to merge the Discord experience with that of PlayStation on both mobile and console by early next year, allowing friends, groups and communities to have fun and communicate more easily when playing together”.
