Sardinia takes an important step forward for the diffusion of electric mobility. In fact, the Region has signed a memorandum of understanding with Enel X for the implementation of the electric mobility integration program with Smart Cities. Specifically, 574 columns will be installed for a total of 1,148 charging points for electric cars.
The columns will reportedly be located in all major cities of the region such as Cagliari, Sassari, Nuoro, Oristano and Olbia. Furthermore, they will find a place in all the municipalities of the metropolitan city of Cagliari and in other coastal cities, such as Alghero, Pula, Porto Torres, Stintino, Castelsardo and other inland centers. Specifically, there will be 108 columns in direct current up to 50 kW and 466 in alternating current.
The total investment for the installation of these recharging points is 7 million euros. The Regional Councilor for Industry, Anita Pili, he also explains that this project is linked to a tender for SMEs for the construction of columns along the main connection networks between the major urban centers.
This project is linked to the 2.4 million euro tender, aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises that have areas accessible to the public, for the construction of fast electric charging stations along the main connection networks between the major urban centers (SS 131, SS 131dcn, SS 729 – Nuova Sassari-Olbia, SS 130, SS 125, SS 554 and SS 195).
Thanks to the project, the Sardinia Region will have one much more widespread network for recharging electric cars that will allow people to travel with their battery-powered car within the territory. Network that will also serve as a push for the spread of this form of mobility in the Region. Satisfaction with the signing of the memorandum of understanding also by Augusto Raggi, Head of Enel X Italia, who stated in this regard:
We are very satisfied to have signed the memorandum of understanding with the Sardinia Region, it represents a very important step to make the island increasingly smart and green, in line with our objectives of sustainable mobility, energy efficiency and technological innovation. Electric mobility is increasingly a reality and its promotion plays a fundamental role in the ecological transition.
