The current production crisis, coupled with the madness of mining, has meant that any and all state-of-the-art graphics cards have vanished before the eyes of gamers in 2020 and 2021. However, this does not mean that there is no new batch of components to be prepared, all of them with a very significant performance increase!
After all, the first rumors about the AMD RDNA 3 architecture have already started to hit the Internet.
Even with the crisis… AMD is betting on graphics cards!
Therefore, according to KittyYuko, the AMD Navi 33 GPU will have the same exact technical specifications as the current Navi 21 GPU. That is, the mid-range GPU, which will most likely bring graphics cards such as an RX 7600 XT or similar… It will offer the exact same performance as the current top-of-the-range AMD Radeon.
So, in this way, as with the GPU-based Navi 21 boards (RX 6800 XT), we will have 80 computing units. With each of them bringing 64 stream processors to the table.
However, the ‘top of the range’ version RDNA 3, that is, the GPU Navi 31, will already be based on the MCM design, with several chiplets of 80 CUs within the same package. All this based on TSMC’s 5nm process, which for the time being is almost exclusive to Apple.
As for the launch, although we all want new graphics cards in 2021, it is likely that these ‘monsters’ will only hit the market at the end of 2022, or the beginning of 2023. And maybe it is better that way … Since at the time it should be possible to buy a graphics card without having to sell a kidney on the black market, or having to wait weeks / months for a unit in stock.
