Apple pissed off some gigantic companies in the industry when it decided to add functionality ‘Do Not Track’ to your iOS. It is a novelty that completely ruins several base systems of platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, which need to know what users want and like, in order to subsequently make money from advertisements.
Interestingly, the change is so big for Facebook and Instagram, that platforms are now ‘threatening’ users! Stating that if they turn on the functionality, they may have to start paying for the use of their Apps.
Got an iPhone? What do you think about starting to pay for Facebook and Instagram?
So, very briefly, this threat from Facebook and Instagram can be read as:
- “Allow tracking, or start paying for our services!”
However, if you are not understanding what is happening, with the arrival of iOS 14.5, you can stop any app from monitoring what you are doing in other services.
Is this bad for Facebook and Instagram? Because?
In a nutshell, these apps are always very attentive to what they are doing on the Internet, even on other services or platforms. Something that is a little ‘creepy‘but that is actually quite normal these days.
However, now that Apple is ‘closing the gates’, Facebook and Instagram are doing everything they can to keep at least one window open. Sending various types of pop-ups to users, in order for them to activate tracking. Getting to the point of threatening with payments for the use of your platform. Yes, a real threat.
However, this type of warning or pop-up is completely against Apple’s regulations. So this is going to go away very soon. In fact, all of this can end with Facebook and Instagram outside the App Store.
In short, we are in the middle of an open war between the major social networks and Apple. All due to our privacy and security.
