It is not the first time that Stephen Amell has found himself having to step into the ring. In fact, in 2015 he performed at the PPV of the WWE SummerSlam, while in 2018 he was the protagonist of the opening match of the great independent event All In, held in Chicago. On that occasion, among other things, he reported a fracture in the pelvis.

Filming for the series was interrupted several times: first due to the health emergency, then due to a back injury suffered by Amell on set. In any case, everything ended for the best and production ended in April.
This is the official synopsis: Heels chronicles the vicissitudes of men and women chasing their dreams in the world of professional small town wrestling. Set in a tight-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling federation as two brothers and rivals wage war over the legacy of their late father. In the ring, someone has to be a good guy and someone has to play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, these characters can be difficult to manage.
