Discord on PlayStation? Why not?
If asked what software or application to unite gamers with voice chat and the community, then Discord is the answer. This independent application offers voice chat services without delay with a chat channel feature to discuss anything, especially related to the video game community.
However, the limited availability of PCs and Androids made console players not have the opportunity to use them.
Microsoft has integrated Discord into the Xbox platform, but due to limitations, players cannot fully enjoy its features. Players can see other players playing the game, but cannot communicate via Xbox Live.
This is a good opportunity for Sony to integrate Discord on the PlayStation Network platform with a better service.
Through his blog posts, Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, announced his partnership with Discord to be integrated into the PlayStation Network in early 2022. The goal is to connect console and mobile players to communicate with each other.
This means that Discord integration with PlayStation will be more than Microsoft has implemented on Xbox so far.
Ryan continued that Sony Interactive Entertainment had made a small investment in Discord Series H, Discord’s investment program. Together, they aim to make the world community and enjoy video games better and more fun via PlayStation.
With this collaboration, Discord can bridge the cross-platform problem that has been an obstacle for Sony Interactive Entertainment and PlayStation.
Sony Interactive Entertainment promises to provide further information in the near future which can also be followed directly via account Discord’s official Twitter.
