Imane ‘Pokimane‘Anys lashed out Twitch for how he handled the meta hot tub, that is the broadcasts of girls who make live streams from the hot tubs, often dressed in very skimpy costumes. In fact, Twitch’s Just Chatting section is currently flooded with these shows, which some say are better suited to other platform genres.
According to Pokimane the problem lies in the smoky and ambiguous guidelines Twitch, which leaves too large gray areas where users find room to circumvent the rules.
For Pokimane the problem is therefore not the girls, against whom he feels no resentment, but the platform itself that has done a bad job in making people understand what is and is not acceptable in stream.
According to her Twitch is aware of the sexual nature of this content, but created these gray areas so large that they prevent them from being banned from the site. So they are not suitable for all ages, but at the same time they are not punishable precisely because of the same guidelines.
For this reason, according to her, we should be able to categorize these “middle” contents and we should increase the number of human moderators to control them, otherwise there is a risk that they will end up occupying the entire platform. It takes someone to go into the live streams and do something directly.
Twitch has already stated that it is monitoring the situation, although it has not yet explained what it wants to do to resolve it.
