Samsung is the market leader when it comes to folding devices, such is the number of models and mastery of production techniques for the foldable OLED screen. However, this does not mean that you are alone, or that there is no real threat to your dominance on the horizon.
After all, even though Huawei is a bit dead in the smartphone world, and Xiaomi doesn’t have to impress anyone in the premium segment. The truth is that Apple is not in a hurry, but is interested in this world.
Yes, Apple is not in a hurry to get involved with Samsung in the folding world. But it seems that when you do, it will be to be a real success.
Watch out Samsung! Apple wants to reign in folding
Therefore, it is true that we already have a few devices on the market, however, it is nothing new for anyone that this market segment still has a lot to evolve. After all, these devices are still too expensive, and still bring too many doubts about durability.
Just look at the number of units sold by Samsung, to realize that, at least for now, users prefer a traditional smartphone. Leaving the folding devices aside. (Only 2 million units shipped to the shelves in 2020).
Having said all of this, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple now has plans to ship around 15 ~ 20 million units of its first foldable iPhone, in its first year on the market.
“Apple is going to be the biggest winner in this space. All thanks to its product ecosystem, and hardware design advantages. Nowadays, the foldable smartphone exists with the main objective of ‘mixing’ the smartphone and the tablet. Apple believes that the foldable smartphone will end the segmentation between smartphones, tablets and laptops. ”
However, although the launch of the first foldable iPhone is expected in 2023, it seems that Apple is not at all concerned with what rivals are doing, preferring to tangle in its own way. That is, the path that results in the best possible product for the consumer, that gives him confidence for the purchase. And, of course, give more recipes.
