Wireless charging is recognized as one of the least requested features
As mobile devices evolve, the more functionality they offer. Another sign of the times – the more functions, the higher the price of a smartphone. Therefore, the flagships have significantly added to the price lately, they have long and firmly stepped over the psychological mark of $ 1000. Nevertheless, there are a number of companies, for example, Xiaomi and Realme, that are trying to offer devices that are optimal in terms of characteristics / price ratio, deliberately going to the fact that they “cut out” a number of options, just to get a lower price.
Even Samsung is going that route, ditching things like expandable storage and bundled charger, and swapping out the glass case for a plastic one just to keep the Galaxy S21’s price down. Looking at all the attempts of manufacturers, it is logical to ask the question, and what functions are users willing to give up in order to reduce the cost?
It was this question that the well-known resource Androidauthority asked its readers, offering them a choice of several functions, the absence of which they are ready to accept in order to reduce the cost of the final cost. According to the survey, it turned out that almost every second will survive the lack of support for wireless charging – 47.6%. There are also a lot of those who are ready to exchange the glass case for something more practical – 17.8%.
Support for fifth-generation networks was considered excessive by 9.3% of respondents and 7.1% – water protection, IP protection. Least of all, users are willing to put up with the lack of stereo speakers (1.6%), fast charging (1.4), display with increased refresh rate (2.6%) and complete charging (2.8%).
And what functions are you ready to give up, if only the price tag on the smartphone becomes more humane?
