It is true that the Microsoft store is not exactly the most visited site in the world. However, it is what many people turn to for certain updates. In fact, this is what should happen with this new application. It’s just like what happened with Uber, Facebook converted the native Instagram app to Windows 10, in a progressive web application. Lighter and that at the bottom will get the web version of Instagram.com.
Windows 10: a new version of Instagram has just arrived!
This progressive application arrived over the weekend and now works on top of the Chromium-based Edge. I remember that the old version was also a web app. However, it used the classic Edge. Now we have, as I mentioned, a bet on Chromium Edge and WebView 2.
Of course, the Chromium Edge-based application offers a better experience and also comes with additional features. One is a new menu that allows you to easily access extensions and other options based on Edge.
It is important that the Instagram app for Windows does not lose any functionality after the updates. Before you ask for functions like direct messages are still available.
Still, and although we can send direct messages, it is not possible to publish photos on our page. In fact, we don’t know when Facebook will add support for this feature to the web app. So, if you want to add them, you really have to use the mobile app.
The updated version of Instagram appears to be coming to devices gradually and may not yet be available to all users.
An increasing bet on progressive applications
Microsoft has taken advantage of the updates that have been released for Windows 10 to make progressive apps more native. In the next version of Edge, Microsoft will further improve the appearance of web apps with a feature that adds a search bar and other new features to these applications as mentioned in site WindowsLatest.
Microsoft continues to work on all these new features that will benefit all apps, such as Twitter and Instagram. However, some things are available in Chrome Canary through chrome: // flags.
