As it turns out, Xiaomi is not the only tech giant looking to make electric cars. Oppo wants to master a similar segment. As with Xiaomi, the founder and CEO of the company will be at the helm of the project. Over the past few weeks, Oppo has been busy researching the market, analyzing the prospects for entering the electric car segment, and looking for talent to join the company and help build electric cars. In particular, Oppo is actively looking for people to help create a self-driving system.
A source close to the top management of Oppo said that at this stage the final decision has not yet been made. The company is still analyzing its prospects and resources in a new field for itself. As part of this preparatory phase, the head of Oppo held meetings with a Tesla representative and battery manufacturer CATL. However, it is not known how these meetings ended and whether the companies will cooperate.
