Assassin’s Creed II it is still today one of the most loved episodes of the whole series Ubisoft: spectacular Italian setting between Florence e Venezia, a more articulated story and an improvement in the game mechanics compared to the first game have made the work a success.
Almost 11 years have passed since its debut on the market (which took place in November 2009 on PS3 e Xbox 360), remember how did Ezio Auditore da Firenze’s first adventure end? The short but engaging final phase of the game is set in Roma and sees the young member of the Brotherhood of Assassins clash with Pope Alexander VI, aka Rodrigo Borgia, Grand Master of the Templars. Defeated the Borgia after a hard fight, Ezio manages to enter the hidden crypt inside the Papal State: here he is greeted by three holograms, which turn out to be the goddesses Minerva, Juno e Jupiter. Minerva says she belonged to a widely advanced race that populated the Terra for a long time, even before the appearance of humans into the world, created by its own civilization as servants. The men then rebelled, resulting in a devastating war between the two races. But surprisingly, the culmination of the conflict was a catastrophic natural event: asolar flare that annihilated his species and bringing humans to the brink of extinction, who eventually managed to survive by becoming masters of the Earth. Minerva concludes her speech by announcing that a similar catastrophe is about to break down on the planet again, and that his race had found a way to prevent disaster.
The real ending comes in the part set in the present. Desmond Miles, descendant of Ezio, and his fellow Assassins are forced to flee their refuge after being identified by the Templars of the Abstergo Industries. Rejected the assault and fled, the group thinks about what to do in an attempt to understand how to prevent the new apocalyptic event. The story will continue in the chapters Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood e Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and then conclude with Assassin’s Creed III which marks the epilogue of Desmond’s story.
The series then moved on with new story arcs and new historical periods: for a refresher, here’s the official Assassin’s Creed timeline. As for the latest episode of the series so far, our review of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will explain all its features in detail.
