Death Stranding, the last title of Hideo Kojima, contains a reference to the saga of Metal Gear, which brought popularity to the iconic game designer and director.
The action adventure only available on PS4 and PC has garnered great acclaim among Kojima fans, an array in which evidently continues to reserve surprises.
Nevertheless, apparently, the next game of the Japanese creator will have a change of publisher and could even land exclusively on Xbox.
Among the rumors that surround the figure of Kojima we also figure a game that should have appeared only on Stadia, but which would have been canceled during the race.
Beyond the rumors about the future, Death Stranding is a hotbed of curiosities, which are discovered at regular intervals by fans.
One of the most recent concerns a reference to Metal Gear, which occurs however only in the Japanese version, resulting cut from the western ones. But there is a reason why.
The character of Conan O ‘Brien in Japanese he is voiced by Tokomazu Sugita, the same actor who voiced Kaz Miller in the headlines of Metal Gear Solid.
At the beginning of Metal Gear Solid V, when you save Kaz, you can hear it «Osokatta janaika?» («why did it take you so long “).
Meeting Conan in Death Stranding, with the Japanese dub, you can hear the same Sugita say «Bosu, Osokatta janaika» (“Boss, why did it take you so long”).
Curiously, he adds:
“I know what you’re thinking:”is it an otter, Kaz? Or are you just happy to see me? ”».
In other versions, including the English one, Conan O ‘Brien never pronounces the name Kaz, probably because it wouldn’t have made sense there or in Italian, where the voice actors are different.
Anyway, this detail did not go unnoticed among Hideo Kojima lovers, in raptures at how he wanted to pay homage to his great work despite having now left Konami.
A Konami that, in this regard, would be thinking of more Metal Gear remakes for the future, although there are still no confirmations in this regard.
The Japanese publisher has recently announced that, despite having initially joined, it will miss E3 2021 in June but will soon have announcements to make.
As for Kojima, curiously, the designer and director found himself embroiled in a story linked to the presentation of a new PS5 game, which many thought was his when instead it belongs to a really existing indie studio.
