Those of you who follow game news are unlikely to miss the court battle between Epic Games and Apple over Fortnite, which is currently underway. Given that they both have to include so much data and evidence to ensure a solid argument, the gaming industry has also had a lot of “classified” information previously unavailable to the public. Some of them came as unexpected surprises. One of them? The total money that Epic Games had to spend to eliminate several games in 2019.
Data about how much money Epic Games had to spend to eliminate games in 2019, at least for the first 9 months until September, surfaced. The costs that must be incurred vary depending on the title. Not only the cost, this data also shows the number of gamers who downloaded (Entitlements) and how many Epic accounts were created.
The biggest cost that Epic had to pay from this data was for the Batman Arkham series which at that time, indeed surprised gamers. Epic has to pay around USD 1.5 million or 21 billion Rupiah for this one deal. But from him, Epic managed to gain no less than 613 thousand new accounts with a total game download of around 6.4 million users at that time. The second “most expensive” game is Subnautica at USD 1.4 million, with 804 thousand new accounts created and around 4.5 million users ending up downloading it.

There is no word yet on whether there will be more recent data for 2020, which will be filled with free AAA games that are even crazier. Epic itself is still pushing a similar strategy to this day.
How about you? How many free games are there in your Epic Games Store account right now?
