Very briefly, the Galaxy S8 and S8 + reached 4 years of age, and therefore, we will not have any more updates for these smartphones. These are devices that were a tremendous success at the time, and which happened to be, Samsung even kept updated for a long time.
But everything has an end …
It’s the end of the line for the Galaxy S8! No more updates
So, in case you didn’t know, these two models have been in a quarterly update cycle recently. Of course, they no longer had access to ‘big’ updates, but were still receiving security updates, which at this point in the championship is probably more important. Thus, the S8 received monthly updates in the first 3 years, and in the last year, it started to receive them every 3 months.
Having said all that, Samsung promised 4 years of updates, and delivered. But more than that? Nop, forget it. After all, it was fantastic support, superior to what Google offers its Pixel smartphones.
Still, if you are not afraid to root, as the warranty is long overdue. It is still possible to find several ROMs updated weekly, on platforms such as XDA. (Know more on here)
If in the meantime you have an S8 and this is the sign you needed to make the leap. So, you can also be happy, since what is not lacking in the market are viable alternatives, such as the S21 line if you are interested in the higher range, S20 FE if you want to save some change, or in the ‘budget’ market, you will find very interesting devices like the Redmi Note 10 Pro, Poco X3 Pro or Poco F3.
