Enel X is the Official Smart Charging Partner of the championship by Moto E. The company presented a new solution for charging electric motorcycles of this series. Is called JuiceRoll Race Edition and has already made his debut in the first race of the third season which took place on May 2nd in Jerez de la Frontera. This new infrastructure replaces the JuicePump 50 used in the first and second season of the championship.
The company explains that JuiceRoll Race Edition is a charger with internal storage and two interconnected units, namely a semi-mobile unit (SMU) and a mobile unit (MU). An electric motorcycle can do the full of energy in 40 minutes. More specifically, the semi-mobile unit is located inside the ePaddock and has a direct current output up to 50 kW and a 22 kW AC input line. In addition, it can count on one 51 kWh storage battery.
Energy also comes from 60 double-sided solar panels, mounted in the charging area, for a total installed capacity of 21 kWp. Thanks to storage and solar panels, in normal conditions the energy taken from the grid is only 4-5 kW. Instead, the mobile unit is a 10kW DC charger powered by the SMU and equipped with an integrated 6kWh storage system that allows the unit to recharge the bikes while in the pit lane and on the starting grid.
During the charging session in the ePaddock, the new charging system from Enel X can supply motorcycles up to 1 MW distributed over 20 chargers, requiring only 100 kW from solar panels and the grid under normal operating conditions, thanks to the integrated storage unit. The storage batteries allow you to compensate for any power drops or blackouts in the electricity grid. In this way it will always be possible to supply the motorcycles with energy.
In addition, the JuiceRoll Race Editions can power the electric tire warmers. The entire system is remotely monitored and controlled in order to optimize the supply of electricity from the grid. Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X, said:
