With the farewell to PlayStation exclusives, Quantic Dream has opened up to the cross-platform market in the dual role of independent developer and publisher. To reaffirm the strategy of the French company, the Head of Publishing Guillaume de Fondaumière discussed the opportunities offered by Nintendo Switch.
From the columns of NintendoEverything, the head of the publishing division of Quantic Dream pointed out how “we have enjoyed the benefits offered by the great partnership signed with Sony between 2006 and 2018, the development for a specific platform has allowed us to focus our attention on the innovations to be made in our titles at a technological, narrative and playful level to give life games. As we developed Detroit Become Human, however, we sometimes felt the urge to explore new frontiers to achieve a even wider audience. […] For this, we are ready to explore new territories and to face the challenges that await us with renewed energy and enthusiasm “.
Referring directly to the development on platforms such as Nintendo Switch, the exponent of Quantic Dream emphasizes the concept just expressed by explaining that “We are very excited to be launching our first game on Switch (the Switch port of Sea of Solitude, ed). As video game enthusiasts, many of us have been Nitendo fans for decades and therefore were looking forward to working on the Switch. Nintendo and Quantic Dreams have already been in talks in the past, but now we can reconnect and quickly establish a new collaboration. It took very little time to get the devkits and from them become certified Nintendo publishers“.
As for the possibility of porting titles such as Detroit Become Human, Heavy Rain or Beyond Two Souls to Switch, de Fondaumière considered it appropriate to underline how “for now there is no plan in this regard, but we will continue to explore the opportunities offered by this partnership to understand what are the best choices for us and our community to make in the future “.
