Many people keep their most important apps on the first home screen of their iPhone or iPad. That’s why Apple has built in a handy function for years that makes it easier to access. Because the principle is different for devices with Touch ID and Face ID, we explain both.
Quickly return to your first home screen
Thanks to the App Store, you as a user suddenly had to deal with many more screens with apps. Nowadays you can also organize this in folders, but even then it can happen that you still have quite a few start screens.
Are you on one of the home screens and do you want to quickly return to the first screen with your most important apps? Then you approach this as follows:
Get back quickly with Touch ID
If you have a device with a Touch ID button below the screen, you can go back quickly as follows:
- Press the home button once.
Get back quickly with Face ID
It works in a slightly different way on a device with Face ID. This will quickly return you to the first screen.
- Swipe up from the bottom of your screen
So it works the same as closing an app.
Do you have an iPad? Then this trick works exactly the same. It doesn’t matter on the iPad with the home button whether you swipe up or press the home button: the iPad supports both methods, because you can also use the swipe gestures of Face ID iPhones.
