Over the past weekend, Capcom completed the publication of the Resident Evil Village on all platforms. Therefore, the new Digital Foundry analysis could not be missing, this time on the performance of Xbox Series X e Xbox Series S and on the comparison with PS5.
After analyzing the demo of Resident Evil Village previewed on PS4 and PS5, the guys at Digital Foundry have sifted through the version for Xbox Series X / S, comparing the performance between the various platforms. The final result is not different from previous experiences with the RE Engine. Just like for PS5, Xbox Series X manages to maintain an unlocked framerate on 60 fps with good consistency, breaking the 45 fps declared by the developers and using the same upscaling technology designed by Capcom. From the point of view of graphics quality and resolution the two consoles are basically on the same level.
According to British engineers, the difference is felt in terms of performance: Xbox Series X seems to hold the framerate more consistently than PS5. In the most agitated scenes and with active Ray Tracing, which put the hardware of next-gen consoles under stress, Series X offers 10% higher performance than its Sony counterpart. The analysis then touches the version for Xbox Series S: in this case the small one from Redmond manages to offer a dynamic resolution of 1440p at 60 fps rather constant. Things change with RT active and in this context the Series S framerate drops to around 30 fps. It should be noted that the performance of the final build may vary from what is seen in the demo.
