It is doing a lot of discussion these days theabsence of a classic rescue system in Returnal, the new exclusive Sci-Fi horror for PlayStation 5 developed by Housemarque, which for this reason was the victim of the phenomenon of review bombing.
Being part of the roguelike genre, Returnal often requests some moderately prolonged game sessions in order to reach a real checkpoint, which is why users with little time to devote to the title they decide to put PS5 in rest mode, so as to resume their game at a later time. If the console remains in standby and no other applications are started, Returnal will resume at the exact moment it stopped.
A trick that has worked for some time, but it seems that some users have been forced to start their game all the same due to a problem related to a function – usually very useful – of the PlayStation 5. The Sony console automatically starts patch downloads, and once the content has been downloaded, it proceeds to update the title on duty. When this happens, there is no sleep mode that takes: the game will be closed in order to be updated. This is exactly what happened with Returnal, and players were unpleasantly surprised to find that his run was now lost.
However, there is a simple way to stem the problem: just go to the PS5 settings and disable the check for automatic updates. This way you can continue to suspend the game using the rest mode of the console, and update the game later.
Just the latest patch of Returnal seems to have not yet fixed some serious bugs that currently afflict the gaming experience, as evidenced by the reports of PS5 users.
