Rocket League it was one of the great games of the previous generation and certainly aims to continue its success on the new generation as well. Of course, it is possible to run the Psyonix video game on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S via backwards compatibility, but it wouldn’t be unpleasant to see the arrival of a new version created specifically for next-gen consoles. Now, through the legal documents of Epic Games (owner of Psyonix), we can discover that in the plans of the company there is a native version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
The legal documents we are talking about obviously come from the pending lawsuit between Epic Games and Apple, a real goldmine of information in recent days. Recall that Rocket League received some sort of upgrade for Xbox Series X and PS5, but it was a minimal leap forward. According to the documents, however, Psyonix and Epic Games want to make a native version for the two consoles of Sony and Microsoft, not just an upgraded backwards compatible version.
As always, since this is not an official announcement, we do not know if these plans will be implemented or not, but certainly – being a free to play title – the players are hoping for it. Through the legal documents we also got to find out how much money developers make through free games.
In addition, Epic Games has paid a lot of money to have Borderlands 3 exclusively on the Epic Games Store.
