Instagram announced that it will only bring end-to-end encryption starting in 2022, but is poised to make life a lot easier for the many users who don’t have a chance to watch a History or a Video Reels with active audio. How many times, in fact, it happens not to be able to activate the audio of your smartphone and listen to what a friend has to say? To solve this problem unveils the “caption sticker”- sticker subtitle, in Italian – which deals with transcribe on the screen the audio content of the Story or Video Reels. The functionality, initially exclusive to English speaking countries, is a godsend even for those with hearing problems.
Real-time text transcription
Using the new feature is really very simple: the user simply has to start the Instagram camera mode and start recording a video to be published as a Story or as a video Reels, or select a video previously saved in the gallery of their smartphone. At this point, just open the sticker menu and select the new sticker “Caption”Among those shown on the screen. The sticker will take care of transcribing speech into text in real time, also giving the user the opportunity to change some aspects of the subtitles such as style, position, color of the text and much more.
The functionality is available today, only in English, as we have pointed out a few lines above, and only for the Stories; for the Reels videos we have to wait for the positive outcome of the tests. For our country there is obviously still some waiting, but the company has nevertheless confirmed that it plans to extend support for other languages as well.
