The Batman, the film directed by Matt Reeves which will see Robert Pattinson for the first time in the role of the hero of Gotham (which curiously next year will be played by three different actors), when it was presented last August in the form of a trailer on the occasion of DC Fandome had a release scheduled for October 2021, but we know that the impediments due to the health emergency have continued further, and that at the moment the release date in US theaters is set for the March 4, 2022.
In short, there is very little missing: for this reason, waiting for a new trailer, any scraps of information are precious. An important element, together with the batman costume, in determining the aesthetic line of a Batman film is certainly the Batmobile. We had already glimpsed it in the trailer, but today new images have popped up on the net that portray it – albeit in miniature.
It is in fact some photos that show the model license plate HotWheels of the new racing car, which among other things already has in the original – very American – design that DNA typical of toy cars.
A BATMOBILE BETWEEN PAST AND FUTURE
In some ways you can see how this new model takes the lines of the very first Batmobile, the one based on the Ford Lincoln Futura concept car and made famous by the TV series in the late 1960s: on the other hand we know that the film will have as its protagonist a young Bruce Wayne who takes his first steps as Batman.
In this case, however, the design of the Batmobile is less soft and nice, with a matte paint (obviously black) with a very stealth appearance and sharp and clear lines, like a muscle car. We are far from the military and radical approach with the “Tumbler” of the two films by Christopher Nolan, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, but it is clear that that iteration is destined to leave traces on all subsequent cars (including those that appeared in the video games, see Batman Arkham Knight) for how he redefined the medium in the modern Batman imagery.
