Interesting statistics about the state of the smartphone market over the past two years
Counterpoint analysts have published their report on the situation in the smartphone market for the first quarter of 2021. Based on their statistics, we will highlight some of the most interesting facts about how this segment of electronics lived. They are quite interesting and it is possible to trace the situation on the market starting from 2018.
So, for example, since the first quarter of 2019, the share of Realme has been growing steadily and in two years it has grown 4 times. Samsung has remained the unchanged leader for two years, with the exception of the fourth quarter of last year, when Apple managed to snatch the palm.
The position of Huawei is also noteworthy. During 2018-2019. the company’s share grew steadily and peaked in the second quarter of 2020, when the company surpassed Apple and caught up with Samsung. But since the third quarter of last year, the company’s share has been rapidly collapsing and already now its share is 4%.
It is impossible not to notice how the share of Xiaomi has grown. After a difficult fourth quarter of 2018, when the company’s share was 6%, over the past two years it has managed to significantly increase its presence and now it controls 14% of the market share.
Despite the fact that according to the results of the first quarter of 2021 Samsung was recognized as the leader, it is not the actual favorite. If you add up the shares of Oppo, Vivo and Realme, which are part of the BBK conglomerate, it turns out that BBK controls a quarter of the smartphone market and is the undisputed leader. And that’s not including OnePlus.
