The Bolt travel booking platform launches the Bolt Drive car sharing service in Europe. The new service will allow users to rent a car for a short time with the Bolt application. The company is going to invest 20 million euros and launch the Bolt Drive service in Europe this year. At the same time, the pilot launch of the service will take place on the domestic market – in Estonia.
The Bolt platform is going to be the first in Europe to combine in one application the service of ordering trips, car-sharing, as well as rental of electric scooters and electric bicycles. Thanks to the new service, Bolt users will be able to rent a car at the touch of a button. This solution will allow less dependence on personal cars and use alternative modes of transport for short trips.
Note that Bolt Drive is a car-sharing service without specially equipped parking lots. It allows the user to rent the car that is closest to him, through the Bolt application. To start the trip, you need to unlock the car with a mobile phone. You can complete the trip anywhere in the city within the area specified in the appendix. At the same time, users do not have to pay for parking or fuel.
“Personal cars create most of the problems of transport infrastructure, as they cause traffic jams, occupy urban space and pollute the environment due to carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. Bolt’s mission is to help people give up car ownership and offer them a more acceptable alternative.
For example, a more convenient, affordable and environmentally friendly option for travel over different distances. We have already launched services for short and medium distances. The Bolt Drive service will come in handy in other cases: whether it’s a trip to the mall, or a trip to nature on the weekend. Users will be able to rent a car at any time using the same app they use to rent an electric scooter, electric bike or book a trip, ”said Marcus Willig, co-founder and CEO of Bolt.
“Sharing services can significantly change the transport infrastructure of cities. For this to happen, two factors are needed: the availability of affordable service and consumer habit. We have already successfully launched an electric scooter rental service in Ukraine. And the demand for this service exceeded our expectations. Given the dynamics of service use during rush hour, we see that residents of large cities do use electric scooters as a “last mile” vehicle.
Car sharing is a new business direction of Bolt. This service allows you to comfortably cover long distances in a rented car. We will monitor the development of this area in Estonia, as well as study the market and demand for this service in Ukraine. Based on the received data, we will make a decision to launch a car-sharing service in our country, ”comments Anton Milka, Head of Bolt Sharing Services Development in Ukraine.
Bolt services are already used by more than 50 million people in 40 countries in Europe and Africa. The company provides a number of services such as car calling, food delivery, courier delivery, electric scooter and electric bicycle rental. In Ukraine, Bolt services are available in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Poltava, Kryvyi Rih, Chernihiv, Sumy, Bila Tserkva, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr, Kropyvnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, as well as in Ivano-Frankivsk and Odesa.
