The design process for Capcom’s Resident Evil game does emerge like a cycle that keeps on repeating itself. At the beginning, it offers a thick survival horror sensation with a fairly high difficulty level. As more series is born, a stronger sense of action will take over until eventually, cases like Resident Evil 5 and 6 occur. This concern is also what happened with the latest series – Resident Evil Village, which must be admittedly feels more action than the previous series, Resident Evil 7. What really happened?
This design choice was acknowledged by the producer – Tsuyoshi Kanda, which came from the gamers’ own feedback. This he revealed in a recent interview with Axios Gaming as reported by the VGC website. Kanda emphasized that it was never Capcom’s philosophy to make the new Resident Evil series appear more sinister than the previous series. The focus is on finding a balance between experiences that are scary but still enjoyable.
This is what happened with Village. Kanda admitted that he got a lot of feedback from fans who called Resident Evil 7 too scary. He admitted that on the one hand, this feels like a compliment. But on the other hand, they always want to create a series where all gamers will feel comfortable jumping in whenever they want and play. This inspired the Village design concept which was formulated in such a way as to ensure gamers were not always in a state of fear / fear. The Village’s tense situation comes not from a narrow space, but what is hidden behind its wider world design.
Resident Evil Village itself is planned to be released on May 7, 2021 for the Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and of course – PC. What do you think? Is Resident Evil 7 really too scary for you?
