After taking home the title of spring champions of theEuropean Masters 2021, Karmine Corp received a message from the French president Emmanuel Macron.
In the short private message, the president admitted that he did not know much about League of Legends but, after learning of the victory of the French team, he wanted to congratulate the team for having raised the French flag.
The French emerged as winners from the pool of 28 best European teams qualified for the European event. The final peaked at 377,000 spectators on various streams, with the French broadcast obviously being the richest in terms of turnout. Macron is only the last of the politicians to give his “endorsement” al gaming competitivo.
In fact, it is not the first time that a politician has been involved in some way in esports.
In Denmark for example, the prime minister not only gave a speech at a CS: GO tournament in 2018 before a game between Astralis and FaZe Clan but also visited the gaming house of the most famous and successful Danish team ever (the Astralis, in fact) and played CS: GO with the boys.
