Jerusalem. The Indian community in Israel organized several programs on India’s 75th Independence Day on Sunday. He decorated the historic Haifa War Memorial with three-colour lights in honor of the Indian soldiers who died during the First World War. The program began with the flag hoisting by the Ambassador of India to Israel, Sanjeev Singla. Singla said, “With the increasing cases of Kovid-19, we are compelled to celebrate 75th Independence Day online and are happy that with the help of the community, we can organize some things.”

The Indian Ambassador said, “We are particularly delighted with the event organized at the Junction Station Cemetery in Nahal Sorek which honors the many Indian soldiers who died during the First World War. During the 75th year of independence, we would like to organize events in the remaining places like this in Israel.” The town hall in Haifa city will be decorated with lights. During the First World War, Indian soldiers sacrificed their lives to liberate the city on 23 September 1918.
