As you may know, Samsung very recently announced/unveiled its new range of foldable smartphones, in the shape of the Z Flip 3 e Z Fold 3. Two smartphones that already have several improvements in the field of build quality, where we have to emphasize the certification against the always boring water.
However, despite the many reports talking about very similar screens between the Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3, the truth is that things are much more different than what we see at first glance! The Z Fold 3 has a ‘special’ OLED screen, which not only presents better image quality, but is also much more battery-friendly… 25% friendlier, to be more specific.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a better than normal OLED screen
So, with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, we’re embracing many improvements over last year’s model, like a faster processor, better build quality, water resistance certification (IPX8), a high-resolution display capable of reaching at 120Hz, compatibility with the ever-popular S-Pen, etc… However, what we didn’t know yet, is that the folding AMOLED screen is not like any others… It’s really special, especially in the field of energy efficiency.
After all, Samsung Display made an announcement today, when talking about the screen that equips the brand new Z Fold 3, by its name, Eco OLED. In terms of energy efficiency, this flexible OLED display is after all 25% more battery-friendly.
Like? Well, the construction of the panel itself has changed, with a laminated structure that said goodbye to the conventional polarizer. It is an idea capable of blocking external light reflection while increasing light transmission by 33%.
Very briefly, it is possible to pass more light, make images more vivid, using less electricity. In addition, interestingly, the Eco OLED panel also uses a UPC (Under Panel Camer) layer under the screen, to further reduce margins.
