Shimla Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar hosted ‘At Home’ at Raj Bhavan today on the occasion of Independence Day. Justice Ravi Malimath, Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court, MLA, GOC-in-C.L., Army Training Command (RTC). General Raj Shukla, Vice Chancellor Prof. Parvinder Kaushal, freedom fighter, senior state administrative, police and military officers, eminent citizens and ex-servicemen of the city were also present on the occasion.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlenkar Unfurled the National Flag at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of 75th Independence Day of the country.
Paying homage to the martyrs, the Governor said that our brave sons maintained the unity and integrity of the nation and made their supreme sacrifice for the security of the country’s borders. He said that Independence Day gives us an opportunity to introspect how we can contribute towards the development of the country.
He said that by adopting rich culture, high traditions and moral values, we can contribute our bit in making the country a world leader and realizing the dream of a new India. The dream of freedom fighters and martyrs can be given real form in this form in true sense.
He conveyed his best wishes for the all round development and progress of the state. He said that we all should take a pledge that for the progress of the nation and the state, we will fulfill our duty with dedication and commitment. Officers and employees of Raj Bhavan and their family members were also present on the occasion.
Plantation done on the occasion of Independence Day
Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority organized a special plantation drive at Baghi Jubbad near Shimla today on the occasion of 75th Independence Day, courtesy the State Forest Department. Acting Chief Justice of the State High Court Justice Ravi Malimath started the plantation campaign by planting a cedar tree.
The aim of the plantation drive was to increase the green cover of the area and to encourage the people of the state towards plantation. Under this campaign, about 550 saplings were planted on an area of 1.5 hectares. State High Court Judge Trilok Singh Chauhan planted a cedar tree. Justice Sureshvar Thakur, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice CB Varowalia, Justice Jyotna Rewal Dua, Justice Satyen Vaidya, Principal Chief Conservator Savita and wife of Acting Chief Justice participated in the plantation drive. Prem Lal Ranta, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present. Registrar General Virender Singh, Sessions Judge, Registrar, District Officer Shimla Krishna Kumar were also present on the occasion.
Independence Day was organized in Himachal Bhawan
The 75th Independence Day celebrations were organized with great pomp at Himachal Bhawan, New Delhi. On this occasion Principal Residential Commissioner Sushil Kumar Singla unfurled the national flag. Deputy residential commissioner Pankaj Sharma was also present in the function.

Shimla. Independence Day was celebrated with pomp in Himachal Pradesh High Court today. Acting Chief Justice Shri Ravi Malimath unfurled the National Flag and inspected the guard of honour. On the occasion, Justices of the High Court Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Justice Sureshwarthakur, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice Chandrabhushan Barowalia, Justice Anoop Chitkara, Justice Jyotsanariwal Dua and Justice Satyen Vaidya was also present.
The employees and officers of High Court, District Court Shimla, Advocate General’s Office, Office of the Assistant Solicitor General of India, Himachal Pradesh Judicial Academy, Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority and other offices located in the High Court premises participated in the Independence Day celebrations. On this occasion, the Chairman of Himachal Pradesh State Human Rights Commission, Justice P.S. Rana and other former High Court judge Justice D.P. Sood, Justice KC Sood, Justice VK Sharma, Registrar General Shri Virender Singh, other Registrars of the High Court, Judicial Officers posted at Shimla and other dignitaries were also present.
