Naughty Dog’s masterpiece continues to hold surprises. Several months after the video of The Last of Us 2 beyond the borders of the map, the datamining of the most updated version of the blockbuster exclusively on PS4 and PS5 seems to suggest the development of a large multiplayer Battle Royale arena.
Intrigued by Naughty Dog’s past statements on the never abandoned intention to develop TLOU 2 multiplayer, the youtuber and dataminer Speclizer went hunting for clues among the most hidden files of the post-apocalyptic adventure, with really interesting discoveries.
The operation conducted by the content creator specialized in datamining reveals an unused map in the main campaign that would seem to refer to a Battle Royale-style arena. The youtuber also claims to have tracked down portions of code related to the icon of one compass and to interface elements such as a player counter or a wheel for the selection of emotes, even if only the unused map of the map from the new region which, purely theoretically, should host the multiplayer games of the new module Battle Royale di The Last of Us 2.
In the video of the dataminer, however, it is also possible to glimpse the incomplete polygonal models of the architectural structures of the area indicated by the map, including the signs of a Motel, a service station and the industrial and material storage complex connected to a porto.
Of course, in the absence of official indications from Naughty Dog, as usual we advise those who follow us to take these rumors or alleged advances on The Last of Us 2 multiplayer with due caution.
