The Karbi Anglong Agreement was signed today in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This signing took place in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and former Chief Minister and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonewal were present on the occasion. After the agreement, Amit Shah said that the Karbi Anglong historic agreement was concluded today, this day will definitely be written with golden letters in the history of Assam and Karbi region. Today around 1000 cadres of more than 5 organizations have started joining the mainstream by putting up arms.

Assam Chief Minister said that we will work for their rehabilitation. They will get reservation in Hills Autonomous Council. The council will get Rs 1000 crore, of which 500 crore will be given by the central and 500 crore by the state government. He said that the Karbi brothers, especially the tribal people, would get the facility of reservation in the areas falling under the Sixth Schedule. Work will be done for the development of their languages. For the development of the area, the state government will give Rs 500 crore and the central government will give Rs 500 crore to the council.
