OPPO has just announced its latest flagship. Let’s take a closer look at the Reno6 and Reno6 Pro.
OPPO today announced its latest smartphones in the Reno Series: Reno6 5G and Reno6 Pro 5G. Since the Reno4 that we saw last year, OPPO has been targeting videophiles with its second flagship series. Reno6 takes this one step further and introduces some new, advanced video functions.
Take your images to the next level
The OPPO Reno Series today serves more than 70 million users worldwide, taking more than 2 billion photos and 200 million videos every month to capture their memories. With the Reno6 Series, those billions of images will look even better. The following AI-powered functions should ensure that:
- Bokeh Flare Portrait Video provides an innovative cinematic-quality bokeh effect for smartphone video. Based on a dataset of more than ten million portraits, a bokeh effect is applied to the background in real time while keeping the subject of the video looking natural and bright. The bokeh effect is available on both the front and rear cameras and can be applied with just one click.
- AI Highlight Video can automatically detect ambient light and optimize video based on it. Whether you’re shooting at night or during the day with strong backlighting, this feature helps to capture clearer, brighter and more vibrant portrait videos.
- Focus Tracking helps in auto-focusing videos by allowing the camera to identify the main subject and track consistently and steadily.
For photography poses Flash Snapshot allows users to take clear pictures of fast-moving subjects or capture a snapshot in rapid motion. After you’ve captured the perfect shot, AI Palette to apply the style and mood of another photo to the image with one click.

Familiar yet refreshing look
Just like the Reno4 and Reno4 Pro, the Reno6 models are distinguished by a slim and light construction. OPPO does introduce a new Glow finish, visible in the different color options of both devices. The Reno6 Pro has a 3D curved 6.5-inch AMOLED screen, while the Reno6 features a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen without a curve. Both displays offer a refresh rate of 90 Hz and touch sampling rate of 180 Hz. 360° light detection via two sensors improves the accuracy of the automatic brightness and the screens are SGS certified as eye-friendly to reduce fatigue.
Under the hood
Reno6 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 870 5G Mobile Platform with an advanced Kryo 585 CPU, operating at a clock speed of up to 3.2GHz. Reno6 is the first phone on the market with MediaTek’s latest 5G chipset, the Dimensity 900, which was built on a 6nm process. The storage capacity is 256GB and 128GB respectively. Both devices both support OPPO’s proprietary RAM expansion technology where some of the available ROM storage can be converted to additional RAM if desired (up to 7 GB for Reno6 Pro and 5 GB for Reno6).
Thanks to OPPO’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.O fast charging technology, the Reno6 Pro’s spacious 4,500 mAh battery is fully charged in just 31 minutes. Reno6 is equipped with a 4,300 mAh battery, which is fully charged in 28 minutes.
The supplied software is ColorOS 11.3 and is still based on Android 11. During the launch event, OPPO could not yet reveal any information about when we can expect the update to Android 12. We suspect that OPPO’s flagship Find X3 Pro will be the first to act.
