During its September presentation, Apple unveiled the 6th generation iPad mini, which received a massive redesign with an enlarged display, a Touch ID scanner built into the power button, a top-end A15 Bionic chipset, a USB-C port and support for 5G networks.
The new iPad mini has a fresh design inspired by the 2020 iPad Air. The mini tablet now features an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with 500 nits of brightness and True Tone, and the power and volume buttons are located on the top edge. The company has moved all physical controls to the top to ensure compatibility with the Apple Pencil 2, as the stylus takes up almost the entire side of the new tablet.
Responsible for performance is the new A15 Bionic chip, thanks to which the iPad mini is 40% faster than its predecessor, and the GPU power has increased by 80%.
In addition, the new iPad mini received a USB-C port instead of Lightning, which will allow you to connect external drives, hubs and other peripherals to it.
Above the display of the new mini is a 12MP ultra-wide-angle front camera with Center Stage, like the iPad Pro on the M1, and a 12MP camera with autofocus and LED flash on the back.
Another interesting innovation in the 6th generation iPad mini is support for 5G networks. Unfortunately, the new miniature tablet did not receive the Smart Connector and the proprietary Magic Keyboard cover, as in other Apple tablets. iPad mini 6 is available in four colors: Space Gray, Pink, Purple, and Shining Star.
The cost of the basic version with 64 GB without a cellular module is 47,990 rubles, and the top model with a 256 GB Wi-Fi + Cellular drive will cost 75,990 rubles.
In Russia, pre-order for all new Apple products will start on September 22, and the gadgets will go on sale next Friday, September 24.
