The great empire of Cathay exists in harmony with the world. Every soldier knows his or her duties to carry out the sublime plans of the Heavenly Dragon Emperor. This perfect balance between will and willingness, also called the harmony of stone and steel, is reflected in the disciplined armies of the dragons.
Legendary commanders
The Great Empire of Cathay is one of the oldest and most powerful civilizations in the Warhammer world and has changed little over thousands of years. It is ruled by the children of the Heavenly Dragon Emperor, ancient and powerful beings who take the human form and use the mysterious ying and yang magics.
Miao Ying the Storm Dragon rules the northern Cathay and commands the armies of the Great Bastion. She has ruled the northern provinces with harshness and aloofness for centuries after she was tasked with defending the area from her father, the Heavenly Dragon Emperor.
Zhao Ming the iron dragon rules the western Cathay and the sky road that leads into the Mourning Mountains. As a seasoned frontier warrior, the iron dragon keeps an eye on the western edge of the empire and controls the desert clans, although the other dragons doubt their brother’s sanity.
Play style of the people
If there was one word to describe Cathay, it would be “harmony”. The dragons of Cathay, and their armies accordingly, are creatures of order and seek a balance in all things – including in their warfare.
The Dragon Emperor’s armies are defensively aligned so that opposing forces wear themselves out on their determined defense and firepower. The most crucial element of their war effort, however, is their effort to fight efficiently together as a single organism. The longer the armies maintain this harmony on the battlefield, the more powerful bonuses they unlock.
Army
This nation is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the Old World, which is why the Cathayan war machine commands an army of the most ruthless and deadly units. The core of their armies is made up of special forces such as the indomitable Jade Warriors and the Guardian of the Heavenly Dragon. They receive destructive support from gigantic terracotta guards, the disembodied Grosse Jade Longma riders and the masterfully crafted Wu Xing war compass.
