Assassin’s Creed Unity is the game that pushed the PS4 and Xbox One to their limits. Released in 2014, the game featured better graphics, especially on PC. And today, a full seven years later, the game remains a graphically impressive 8K PC game with Reshade Ray Tracing.
YouTube channel Beyond The Hype shared the following video with Ray Tracing Realistic Reshade and in 8K format. The end result is truly amazing, making Unity look as good as most modern games.
Youtuber, of course, skillfully hid the game’s LOD problems. In case you didn’t know, the game was changing NPC LOD models right before our eyes. Moreover, its distant textures looked washed out due to the low LOD values. There was a LOD fix mod for this, but from the looks of it it worked best when taking screenshots (and not while playing).
Aside from these issues, however, Assassin’s Creed Unity looks amazing. His “pre-baked” lighting is one of the best I’ve ever seen, and his global illumination solution was incredible. Ironically, the series was never able to achieve these visuals after using a fully dynamic lighting system. Yes, there was a more dynamic lighting / weather system, but this decision had a big impact on the visual presentation. Heck, the next video is geared more towards the new generation than Valhalla herself.
