In the last year and a half, the pandemic has upset the lives of all of us and changed our daily lives: remote work, distance learning and social distancing have entered our routine, significantly increasing the time spent at home.

These changes have affected every aspect of professional, relationship and leisure life. The world of gaming, which according to some estimates involves almost 17 million gamers in Italy, is no exception: Kingston Fury has therefore conducted a survey to find out how the habits and needs of the players have changed in this long pandemic period.

The survey was conducted within the brand’s community, involving a panel of enthusiasts in which the majority spend between 5 and over 20 hours a week playing video games of different genres. A first fundamental fact emerges from the survey: over 50% of the sample increased the time devoted to gaming over the past year and a half, especially in periods of tighter restrictions and lockdowns

In the absence of activities to which they can dedicate themselves outside, video games have in fact become a real outlet for fans of the genre: as many as 83% of those interviewed even say that gaming has helped them to have fun and overcome this difficult period. Not only that, gaming has also represented an opportunity for interaction with other people, albeit virtually and from a distance: nevertheless only 9% declare that, since the pandemic, they have started to prefer streaming games, since it allows them to keep themselves. in contact with friends who share the same passion and / or to make new acquaintances.

During the pandemic, also due to server overcrowding, some problems were found that hindered the gaming sessions – even if only a small part of the sample reports them: 21% complain of a hiccup connection and 6% of the slowness of the system.

Last but not least: the new gaming habits have created new needs, which prompted about 60% of respondents to invest in upgrading their gaming equipment: peripherals (purchased by 29%) dominate. seat and workstation (26%), SSD (8%), memory modules (7%).

Kingston FURY, on the strength of Kingston’s proven experience in providing memory solutions, precedes and responds to new gaming needs: it recently unveiled its high-performance Kingston FURY ™ Renegade, Kingston FURY Beast and Kingston FURY Impact memories. In addition, it will soon launch a brand new SSD for gaming and, later in the year, a new line of DDR5 memory. In short, the goal is to allow enthusiasts and gamers to give their machines the upgrade they need and have always wanted.
