The Nintendo Switch OLED is already a reality, but at the same time, rumors surrounding the Switch Pro point to a project now dead, or at least connected to the machines.
Does this mean that all the ‘leaks’ were fake? Not even close!
Switch Pro? Not! 4K Switch? very likely in the near future
So, as we reported a few weeks ago, Nintendo has sent an updated Switch DevKit to various teams, with 4K capabilities. In addition, the dock that comes with the new OLED Switch is also capable of outputting images in the desired resolution.
In other words, there was even a Switch Pro in development, with plans outlined to be launched in 2020 or 2021. But COVID and the consequent crisis of components ruined everything.
That’s exactly why Nintendo gave up Switch Pro. To bet on a new generation Switch!
In other words, it’s too late for Switch Pro… With Nintendo focusing entirely on launching a completely new Switch console, this one, capable of offering 4K, thanks to the DLSS capabilities of the new SoC made in partnership with NVIDIA. This console has the internal name of “Switch 4K”.
However, as not everything can be good, the launch of the new Switch seems to mean a cut in backwards compatibility. In other words, the leap in performance is so big, and that’s why the architecture is so different. That the new generation Switch may even come to leave behind all the games released for the current console.
Besides, what do you think about all this? Already bought the OLED Switch, took advantage of the price drop in the normal model… Or are you waiting for an alleged Pro model? Well then, Nintendo seems to have some cards up its sleeve! Share with us what you think about all this in the comments below.
