Microsoft has presented a report for the past fiscal quarter, from July to September 2021. The corporation announced record revenues ($ 45.3 billion) and record net profit ($ 20.5 billion).
As for the gaming division, its results are also record-breaking:
- The gaming division achieved $ 3.6 billion in revenue for the quarter, up 16% from last year.
- The main growth was achieved through the sale of equipment, due to strong demand for Xbox Series X | S. The growth was 166% compared to the same quarter last year. But you need to understand that last year’s quarter from July to September was even before the release of new consoles.
- Microsoft notes that there is still a shortage of consoles.
- Revenue from digital games and services increased by only 2%.
- Microsoft notes an increase in revenue from its Xbox Game Studios projects and Game Pass. But at the same time, revenue from partner projects decreased.
- The number of Game Pass subscribers has grown, but their number has not been specified. Still the last official figure is dated January of this year – 18 million subscribers.
- Microsoft expects significant growth in Game Pass subscribers in the next quarter, Satya Nadella noted: “This holiday season we will have the largest lineup of content and exclusive games ever, with three new AAA titles, including Halo Infinite, available through the Xbox subscription service. Game Pass, which still offers the best value for money in games. “
